Our Talents

Talent is another word for desire.
Our focus becomes centered
on what we wish to do
practicing again and again
until we master the needed skills.
Talent can be developed.
We need not compare ourselves
to others who seem “better”
for each of us can enjoy
to the extent of our ability
the dreams of our heart.

T asking what God gives us with gratitude
A llowing ourselves to succeed
L iving life to its fullest
E njoying what makes our hearts sing
N ever let other people’s talent discourage you
T aking time each day for your passion

2014 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2014 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A San Francisco cable car holds 60 people. This blog was viewed about 3,100 times in 2014. If it were a cable car, it would take about 52 trips to carry that many people.

Handling Difficult Situations

A crowded United Airlines flight was canceled. A single agent was re-booking a long line of inconvenienced travelers.
Suddenly, an angry passenger pushed his way to the desk. He slapped his ticket on the counter and said, “I HAVE to be on this flight and it has to be FIRST CLASS.”

The agent replied, “I’m sorry, sir. I’ll be happy to try to help you, but I’ve got to help these folks first; and then I’m sure we’ll be able to work something out.”

The passenger was unimpressed. He asked loudly, so that the passengers behind him could hear, “DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHO I AM?”

Without hesitating, the agent smiled and grabbed her public address microphone. “May I have your attention, please?”, she began, her voice heard clearly throughout the terminal. “We have a passenger here at Gate 14 WHO DOES NOT KNOW WHO HE IS. If anyone can help him with his identity, please come to Gate 14″.

With the folks behind him in line laughing hysterically, the man glared at the United Airlines agent, gritted his teeth, and said, “F*** You!”
Without flinching, she smiled and said, “I’m sorry sir, you’ll have to get in line for that, too.”

The Pregnant Deer Scenario

In a forest, a pregnant deer is about to give birth to a baby. It finds a remote grass field nearby a river and slowly goes there thinking it would be safe. As she moves slowly, she gets labour pain.

At the same moment, dark clouds gather around that area and lightning starts a forest fire. Turning left, she sees a hunter who is aiming an arrow from a distance. As she tries to move towards right, she spots a hungry lion approaching towards her.

STOCHASTIC PROBABILITY THEORY
What can the pregnant deer do, as she is already under labour pain..?
What do you think will happen..?
Will the deer survive..?
Will it give birth to a fawn..?
Will the fawn survive..?

OR

Will everything be burnt by the forest fire…?
Can the deer go left..? No, the hunter’s arrow is pointing at her.
Can she go right…? No, the hungry male lion is approaching her.
Can she move up..? No, there the forest is on fire.
Can she move down..? No, that is where the fierce river is.

Answer: She does nothing. She just focuses on giving birth to a new LIFE..

The sequence of events that happens at that fraction of a second (moment) are as follows:

In a spur of MOMENT, a lightning strikes and blinds the eyes of the hunter…!
At that MOMENT, he releases the arrow missing and zipping past the deer…!
At that MOMENT, the arrow hits and injures the lion badly…!
At that MOMENT, it starts to rain heavily and puts out the forest fire…!
At that next MOMENT, the deer gives birth to a healthy fawn…!

In our life too, there are MOMENTS of CHOICE when we all have to deal with negative thoughts from all sides. Some thoughts are so powerful they overcome us and make us clueless.

Anything can happen in a MOMENT in this life. If you are religious, superstitious, atheist, agnostic or whatever, you can attribute this MOMENT to divine intervention, faith, sudden luck, serendipity,
coincidence, karma or a simple ‘I just don’t know’…!

The priority of the deer, in that given moment, was simply giving birth to a baby because LIFE IS PRECIOUS…!

In future, may you always be inspired to have a focused positive insight, oblivious of all imaginary, negative probabilities.

“LIFE is Flowing Like a River With Unexpected TURNS, May be GOOD,
May be BAD…Learn to enjoy Each Turn because these Turns… Never RE-TURN.”

Greatness

One woman, many journeys

Please watch the video before proceeding 🙂

Greatness is something that many people believe is a gift bestowed on a select few. Take a minute to stop and consider what comes to your mind when you hear the word ‘greatness.’  What do you see, what do you hear?

I believe that all of us have the capacity to be great, the sheer fact that we are born, alive and walking this earth means that we have greatness within us.  The sad truth is that many of us will die not having tapped into that unique quality that makes us great and we will aimlessly go through life simply existing.

As a child I never thought there was anything particularly special about me, I was like every other child.  Now, I was never told that I wasn’t special but no one really made a great deal of effort to tell me…

Perfection – A Sculptors Viewpoint

Madamsabi's Blog

A man was visiting a temple under construction where he saw a sculptor making an idol of a god.

image

Suddenly he noticed a similar idol lying nearby. Surprised, he asked the sculptor, “Do you need two statues of the same idol?”

“No,” said the sculptor without looking up, “We need only one, but the first one got damaged at the last stage.”

The gentleman examined the idol and found no apparent damage. “Where is the damage?” he asked.

“There is a scratch on the nose of the idol” said the sculptor, still busy with his work.

“Where are you going to install the idol?” asked the man.

The sculptor replied that it would be installed on a pillar twenty feet high.

“If the idol is that far, who is going to know that there is a scratch on the nose?” the man asked.

The sculptor stopped his work, looked up…

I Will Move The Rock

Madamsabi's Blog

Once upon a time…there was a man who was sleeping at night in his cabin when suddenly his room filled with light and the Savior appeared. The Lord told the man He had work for him to do, and showed him a large rock in front of his cabin. The Lord explained that the man was to push against the rock with all his might.

This the man did, day after day. For many years he toiled from sun up to sun down, his shoulders set squarely against the cold, massive surface of the unmoving rock, pushing with all his might. Each night the man returned to his cabin sore, and worn out, feeling that his whole day had been spent in vain.

Seeing that the man was showing signs of discouragement, Satan decided to enter the picture placing thoughts into the man’s mind such as : “You have been…

Leo Fenders, Founder Of Fenders Guitars

Madamsabi's Blog

So what do these folks have in common?

Eric Clapton
Jimi Hendrix
Steve Harris
Buddy Holly
John Lennon
John Mayer
Bonnie Raitt
Sting

They span three generations, from Buddy Holly (born 1936) to John Mayer (born 1977). They’re not all guitarists. Sting and Steve Harris (of Iron Maiden) play bass.

Of course, they all favor the legendary Fender instruments conceived by a late-blooming accountant named Clarence Leonidas Fender (1909-1991).

Leo Fender was born in a barn not far from what would become Disneyland, California on August 10, 1909. His parents grew oranges.

Leo loved tinkering from an early age. At 13, he visited his uncle’s electronics shop. He became mesmerized by a spare-parts radio his uncle had built and the loud music playing from it. His passion was born.

Yet when the Depression started, he declared an accounting major. After graduation, Leo joined Consolidated Ice and Cold Storage Company as…

A few moments after the daughter announced her engagement, her Father asked, “Does this fellow have any money ?”

The daughter shook her head sadly. “Oh Daddy ! You men are all alike.” sighing deeply, she replied, “That’s exactly what he asked me about you.”
