Two Perspections To The Same Situation

Two Women chatting in the office.

Woman 1: I had a fine evening, how was yours?

Woman 2: It was a disaster.. My husband came home, ate his dinner in 3 minutes and fell asleep. How was yours ?

Woman 1: Oh it was amazing! My husband came home and took me out for a romantic dinner. After dinner we walked for an hour.. When we came home he lit the candles around the house. It was like a fairy tale!

At the same time, their husbands are talking at work.

Husband 1: How was your evening ?

Husband 2: Great… I came home, dinner was on the table, I ate and fell asleep. What about you ?

Husband 1: It was horrible. I came home, there’s no dinner, they cut the electricity because I forgot to pay the bill; so I took her out for dinner which was so expensive that i didn’t had money left for a cab. We walked home which took an hour and when we got home I remembered there was no electricity so I had to light candles all over the house!!

Moral: Presentation does matter… No matter what the reality is.

Why Doubt You?

Sammie Abah's Blog

Self-doubt can be a troubling and persuasive voice that holds you back.

It holds you back from seizing your opportunities.

It makes getting started or finishing things harder than they need to be.

Sure, it can sometimes be useful as it helps you to soberly see your current limitations or simply recognize a half-baked or bad idea. But mostly, it holds you back in life.

So how can you get around that, how can you overcome those times of self-doubt so that you can move forward once again?

In this article I’ll explore 3 simple steps + one bonus tip that have helped me to decrease that destructive inner voice.

Step 1: Say stop.

First, when your inner doubts bubble up, be quick. Don’t let them spin out of control or grow from a whisper to a stream of discouraging sentences. Instead, talk back to that doubtful part of…

Why You Should Get Marry

FOR SINGLES: Why You Should Marry.

Don’t marry for SEX,

Don’t marry because you are of AGE,

Don’t marry because you are getting OLD,

Don’t marry because you are LONELY,

Don’t marry because you need someone to support you FINANCIALLY,

Don’t marry because you MISTAKENLY got PREGNANT for him,

Don’t marry because you don’t want to LOSE the person,

Don’t marry because of your family PRESSURE,

Don’t marry because you like the idea of MARRIAGE and admire every WEDDING GOWN you see,

Don’t marry because all your FRIENDS are getting married,

Don’t marry for COMPENSATION for all he/she has done for you,
But get married because you want to fulfill DESTINY,
Get married because you want to be a suitable HELPMEET to an imperfect person, who LOVES and accepts you for who you are, not who you pretend to be,
Get married because you want to fulfill your PROMISE.

I Am Not Perfect!!! (GASP)

Adriana Ospina

Shocking as it is, I am not 100% everything that I want to be. Confession: I have put off becoming a life coach for the last 6 years because even though I desperately wanted to become a counselor, the nasty little monster in my mind would scream “WHO ARE YOU TO GIVE ADVICE??” “WHO ARE YOU TO BE A MODEL TO OTHERS?” What’s even more shocking is that every single person has had that thought, “who am I to stand in front of others?” Do you know how crazy that is? The millions of things we talk ourselves out of doing because we don’t feel “ready” or “worthy” or “perfect” enough! Our lives would look remarkably different if we believed we were amazing. The entire world would change the moment we were brave enough to be our truer, noblest selves. We would be bold in facing any resistance because our…

You Need One Thousand No’s to Get a Yes

Adriana Ospina

If you’re going to be great, get some thick skin. Be so committed to your dream that the doubt waivers in it’s resolve.

Cynicism and judgment are in no short supply, creative, risk takers are an endangered species.

Save your tears for your dream. Don’t waste them on a no.

Idlers will always be jealous of the swiftest ones among us. They have all the time in the world to do just that – tempt and shadow the light. They don’t like the soulful stretch. Homeostasis is all that is and will ever be for them and we’re talking about a journey they’re not ready to take.

Count the No’s because the Yeses are soon to follow.

Like a levy breaking from the strain of the powerful waters so too do these blockages crumble before such truth of destiny.

Your dream is too bold to be quiet.

BLESSING (A Thanksgiving Sermon)
A Sermon by Rev. Lawson M. Smith
Preached in Mitchellville, Maryland, October 27, 1978

“Bless the Lord, 0 my soul, and forget not all His benefits” (Psalm 103:2).

In ancient times, when something wonderful happened, it was customary to say, “Blessed be the Lord” in grateful recognition that the Lord is Blessing Itself and the source of all blessings with everyone (see AC 1096, 2486). People spoke in this way to ascribe all good to the Lord and take no credit for themselves. Also, they wanted to speak from the Divine, or from the Lord’s point of view, and not from themselves (see AE 465). Instead of saying, perhaps, “O Lord, I am so grateful for Your great blessings,” they would simply say, “Blessed be the Lord,” or as in Psalm 103, “Bless the Lord, 0 my soul.” In this way they gave thanks and at…

At the national hospital intensive care unit, patients always die on the same bed at 7am every morning regardless of their condition. This puzzled medical staff so a group of medical doctors decided to observe the bed in secret and decided to wait for the fateful hour. Some held crosses and prayer books to ward off evil influence. While the less superstitious held cameras, tablets, smart phones, to capture every moment of this hour.
At exactly 7am, the door to the ward opened slowly. Marshal the cleaner disconnected the life support from the mains and plugged his Nokia phone charger.

The Value of Life

My Good Time Stories

All of us have a sense of value about our lives. We like to think that it has a lot of worth and significance for ourselves and towards others. But sometimes, because of difficult and challenging circumstances, we begin to doubt the usefulness of the life that we have been given. Well, today I would like to share the following short story that I found on, that will help remind you that your life ALWAYS has value…no matter what life throws at you.

A well known speaker started off his seminar by holding up a $20 bill. In the room of 200, he asked, “Who would like this $20 bill?”

Hands started going up.

He said, “I am going to give this $20 to one of you but first, let me do this.” He proceeded to crumple the dollar bill…
